With Christmas and New Year round the corner, I wanted to share something that reflects the vacation mood. Today’s recommendation is a book authored by none other than Enid Blyton, an author of children’s books in English since the 1930s, and with over 600 million sold copies.

Amongst the many Adventure series books that she has written, I find this one particularly great because of the way the story has been woven. The book is almost a travel diary of 3 young children and their family across countries to new destinations. The book talks of real locations like the Empire State Building in New York and offers a lovely description of the simple life – whether it is living in a caravan or in a canal boat!

The best part of the book is that it talks about the simple pleasures of life that make children jump with excitement rather than a tech-heavy life that we have gotten so accustomed to. Be it having a lamb as a pet, setting up a caravan in the vast, open fields or going aboard the majestic Queen Elizabeth Ship, this book transports children to a world of fun and joy and adventure in a non-magical regular world!
