Learning to Test: Grades 5 and 6

Observing and questioning is where science starts. Testing is where it becomes a method. In Evolving, your child stops asking only “why” and starts asking “how would I check?”, running weekly experiments where they change one thing, hold the rest steady, and explain what the result means. It is the bridge from curious observer to independent thinker.

What we do not do

And why we do not

No textbook tuitionWe build understanding, not exam shortcuts.
No blackboard teachingEvery session is hands-on and experiment-led.
No solving exam papersWe develop thinkers, not rote learners.
No ready-made projectsYour child designs, builds and owns the work.

Enrolled for my son and he is enjoying it thoroughly as not only theory, but with pratical implementation and discussion. Earlier he was little hesitant how to complete the experiment but now he is much more confident and knows the concepts well. Started loving the actual science.

Our Educators

Our educators do not teach from a script. They are trained in how children learn, in the published pedagogy of our founder, Dr Sonali Dasgupta, PhD, IIT Delhi, and in facilitating small groups so that curiosity is the driver, not the teacher.

Questions parents ask

My child already does well in science at school. What does this add?

Doing well in Grades 5 and 6 usually means recalling the textbook accurately, because that is what school assessment at this stage measures. The Evolving Program works on a different skill. Your child learns to analyze an experiment, connect it to real-world technologies, and reason from what they observed rather than from what they were told. These skills are rarely taught explicitly but are expected when a child reaches middle school/ Grade 7. And that is what this program builds in a child who is already comforatble with the factual syllabus.
Tuition revisits the chapter your child is doing at school and prepares them for the next test. Evolving does not follow the school sequence at all. A Grade 5 child here works on black holes, DNA and circuits, topics school reaches years later, through experiments they run themselves. It builds the reasoning school science will later assume; it does not repeat the syllabus.
Not in the next term, and we do not claim otherwise. What changes is how your child answers a question: from recalling a line in the book to explaining why something happens. From Grade 7 onwards, school science starts rewarding exactly that, and children who have practised it for two years find the shift easy.
Yes, of course. The year is made of four to five self-contained themes of 8 to 10 sessions each, so a child joining in November starts a fresh theme with everyone else. Grade 6 entrants join the current theme; the two years are two different sets of themes, not a sequence.
We speak with you first, to understand what you want for your child and whether Evolving is the right fit. Your child then attends one full live session with the batch they would join. After that the decision is yours. We do not follow up unless you ask us to; a session that goes well makes the case on its own.

Science moves forward with questioning. Learning to question starts here.
